Born in Sydney in 1990, Tom wrote the first pages of his debut novel The Light on the Hill when he was supposed to be answering phones at a literary agency in New York.

Tom has since worked as a lawyer, and has previously co-founded the dialogue group for the Sydney Writers’ Festival and served as a Board Observer at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.

A recipient of the Henry Lawson Prize for Prose, Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in English Literature from the University of Sydney, and a Juris Doctor with Distinction from the University of New South Wales. He lives in Sydney with his family and their recalcitrant golden retriever.
